Mark Stehlik
Executive Director
Staff Since 2008
Mark’s good humor and enthusiasm for working with people in the outdoors are trademark qualities of his work here at Camp.
Mark grew up in Buffalo New York, where he spent summers on camping trips and at his childhood camp as a camper, CIT, nature teacher, and horseback riding instructor. He graduated from Bates College with a philosophy degree with a focus on ethics and morality, which speaks to the very heart of what we do here. He teaches moral philosophy to the Gap Program, and is always engaging people in conversations about applied philosophy regarding Glen Brook’s mission and ways to make the world a better place.
Mark first came to Glen Brook as a Summer Camp Trip Leader, he later led the Falcon Outdoor leadership Program, and joined the year-round staff running the Summer Camp and School Programs for 10 years before becoming the Executive Director.
Mark loves to explore the outdoors, and is passionate about the Glen Brook land. You’ll often find him exploring the forest excitedly with members of visiting groups or with his three children, or going on long bike rides. Mark cites his regular yoga and meditation practice as a source of his boundless energy, enthusiasm, and patience, and is always looking forward to his next opportunity to share his joys and skills with anyone who comes to Camp.
