Glen Brook’s diverse year-round staff all share a passion for outdoor adventure, hard work, community relations and responsible land management. They live on Glen Brook’s 250-acre campus in Marlborough, NH, in private homes and contribute in a variety of ways to the care and operation of Glen Brook’s facility and programs.
During the summer, Glen Brook’s staff increases to 30 members, many alumni of the summer program, and are a mix of experienced teachers, parents and enthusiastic college students. Most of our key staff have been here for years. About 20% of our counselors are international visitors from around the world. Counselors are selected first and foremost because they love to teach children and have been successful doing so. They must be strong individuals whom our campers can look to for guidance and friendship and admire as role models. The fact that they might also be a star tennis player or a gifted artist is a welcome bonus. Our staff receives ongoing training in teaching effectiveness, camper behavior issues, cabin management, emergency procedures and physical and emotional child safety issues.
Starting in 2008, Glen Brook started a summer artist-in-residence program that seeks to bring emerging artists to the camp. Artists are camp counselors first, but they teach fewer classes so that they have time to work on their art throughout the day.
